1. What made you choose Karla Mason Boudoir?
I’m not sure when or how I first crossed paths with Karla’s Instagram feed. But sometimes paths are meant to cross! I started following her, and was impressed with not only the beauty of her work but the wide range of women she photographed. All sizes, shapes, ethnicities, etc. I wanted to make turning 60 years old epic, not an excuse. My session took place literally on my 60th birthday. Best decision I made!
2. What were you nervous about going into your session?
Not so much. Hurriedly Ida was hitting my home, so there was a little anxiety around the outcome of that (please not another Katrina!) But, I felt at home in Karla’s home with a welcome sign and a mimosa I turned all decisions of makeup and wardrobe (or lack there of) over to the team. Easy, easy, easy!
3. What was your favorite part of the experience?
Geez, have to pick one? The whole experience was awesome. I loved that Karla completely posed me. The difference more arch here, hand there, chin here… well it shows in the final pics.
4. How do you feel now that you’ve completed the session?
Proud! Love my pics. It’s amazing to see myself thru someone else’s eyes. Not what I see when I look in the mirror. I think we all tend to focus on the flaws and Karla’s eye and lens shows a different story. These pics remind me to celebrate what my body is about…giving birth to two amazing kids, cancer survivor, shoulders strong enough to carry what at times felt like the weight of the world, legs strong enough to power me thru triathlons, multi-day century rides and hiking thru the Dolomite mountains.
5. Would you recommend Karla Mason Boudoir to others?
Definitely! Already have. I think not just for the beauty of the finished product, but the body positively the process itself provides.
