Hey friends!
It’s time I updated you guys officially on the new changes to the studio! As the end of July got closer I realized that I’ve had my home boudoir studio in Virginia for 5 years. Knowing myself and being a terrible creature of habit, I knew something had to change. I wanted to celebrate the past 5 years of this amazing business and finally make a few changes to the studio! I knew I wanted to keep the bedroom light and bright, but it “needed” an accent wall. I toyed with the idea of a faux concrete wall but after consulting some professionals, they weren’t sure how to go about it. So in my true Taurus fashion, I didn’t wait and just did it myself. I wanted the loft to keep that dark and moody feel, so I felt like trying the faux concrete wall would work best there! I followed this Youtube Tutorial: How to make a faux concrete wall and just went at it! It was simple enough until I got the bright idea to sand the colors to blend them together and made an absolute mess.
But as anything I do, I knew it could work so I pushed through the awkward stages of the wall and it looks amazing! After practicing in the loft I knew I didn’t want to do that again in the bedroom so I decided to contact Different Strokes by Earl and have him make my black accent wall dreams come to life. I’ve had the huge Arhaus mirror for a year now and I knew it needed a new home. I thought by adding the black accent wall in the loft, it would make the perfect new home for my black on black heart. I then decided that the black accent wall needed to be in the bedroom as well, so that’s what we did! I was nervous it was going to make my room seem darker and throw off my images, but we freshened up the rest of the walls with a bright white and it was beautiful!
After decorating with a few accent pieces from Amazon (pampas grass, sheer curtains, tension curtain rod), Home Depot (curtain ring clips), TJMaxx (pampas grass vase, faux drippy plants), Home Goods (gold side table with candles), Target (gold mirror) and Kirklands (pompas grass wreath), it turned out exactly how I had imagined. Simple, clean with the right amount of pop. My clients so far have LOVED the changes and I’m so glad I pushed myself out of my comfort bubble. If you follow along on Tiktok or Instagram you may have seen the changes but here are the official results. What do you think?
