Amanda Runnel's Boudoir Experience

1. What made you choose Karla Mason Boudoir?

I have always wanted to do a boudoir shoot but I knew I needed someone who was talented. Not only behind the lens but also in the way they handled such a “sensitive subject” as boudoir is. I saw pictures from a friends shoot and she said Karla “made her feel beautiful in every way.” I followed her pages and fell in love with her work and the way her clients say they made them feel. spoiler alert I chose the right person for the job!

2. What were you nervous about going into your session?

I was nervous about being sexy. That would have to be the biggest thing. My “sexy face” is very similar to a naked mole rat on a hot summers day- not attractive! Karla assured me she would go through every movement down to my breath and well what do you know?! I’ve got a sexy face!

3. What was your favorite part of the experience?

Oh my goodness do i have to choose one?! I think just laughing in between shots was my favorite. I was flexing muscles at one point- that’s how relaxed the shoot was. But she was very professional about it. It wasn’t a joke and she took the shoot very serious as far as getting the perfect shots, but she made the experience so relaxing and enjoyable. I kind of want to be her friend in real life.

4. How do you feel now that you've completed the session?

When is too soon to do another one?! That’s my honest feelings. Also I have sat in front of my mirror trying to do the same sexy faces and, well Karla has a gift. I feel like I can walk around and be my unique, quirky me but with my head held a little higher and my hips with a little more sway. Confidence. Not only in my image but also in who I am as a person. It’s hard to understand that until you look through a set of your images and you see YOU as you are. Your personality, your uniqueness, your beauty. Karla captured all of that. And I think I need to go do about 12 more just so I can relive the photoshoot!

5. Would you recommend Karla Mason Boudoir to others?

Yes. 100% yes. I think if you have ever even THOUGHT about doing a shoot, you need to at least follow the page. See the way these women talk about themselves and the others. Look at how everyone is so supportive in that group. There is no body shaming. No critiquing. No negative anything. Just a whole lot of perky bootys, glammed up faces, and absolutely beautiful women captured by an absolutely wonderful photographer. Yes. 100% yes. I would recommend Karla Mason Boudoir to anyone and everyone. For any occasion. Any reason. Any age, race, size, occupation, or the like.

Alisha's Boudoir Experience

1. What made you choose Karla Mason Boudoir?

I chose Karla Mason Boudoir because after a lot of research and web browsing into the different boudoir photographers in the area, it was easy to see she was the BEST! Her images not only honored the female body but also were true to each individual. I had been wanting to do a Boudoir photos for a couple of months and I knew that Karla would provide me with the best images but she did more than that she far exceeded my expectations and in one photo shoot changed my life!

2. What were you nervous about going into your session?

Oh my god there were so many things that I was nervous about going into my session. I was nervous about how I would look and if I was capable of being "that girl." I was nervous about the photos and if I would be comfortable enough laying around in lingerie to even get any decent photos. This is coming from a girl who is commonly described as awkward and silly, and who has never worn lingerie a day in her life! Within minutes of arriving Jeet and Karla put me at such ease with their warm personalities and conversation.

3. What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of the experience was getting made over and having the pictures taken. After getting through the first 15 minutes and warming up to the experience and getting to see a sneak peek of some of the images during that time I remember saying "OH MY GOD THAT'S ME." After that I felt like a Victoria Secret supermodel; sexy and confident. From behind the camera Karla brought something out in me that was always there that I just forgot that I had. Woman tend to be hard on themselves and I am very guilty of that, but this experience reminded me that I am a sexy woman. I think Karla said it best when she said "sometimes behind the messy bun and leggings we forget."

4. How do you feel now that you've completed the session?

This was such a life changing experience for me. After completing my session and even before seeing the images I was reminded that although a mom, nurse and student that I am sexy, beautiful, strong, and confident. For once I saw what my boyfriend sees when he looks at me and tells me those things and these images made me believe it. I have gotten up every morning and watched the slide show and now leave the house with my shoulders back and my head high!

5. Would you recommend Karla Mason Boudoir to others?

I have and will continue to recommend Karla Mason Boudoir to everyone that I know and people that I don't know. Even if you think you aren't that girl, your awkward, not sexy, not confident enough; YOU ARE! Whether you do this for your significant other or just for you; you are worth it, you are sexy, you are beautiful!  Karla and Jeet will bring that out of you and change your life!

Christine's Memphis Boudoir Experience

1. What made you choose Karla Mason Boudoir?

After being added to the page by a friend, looking at all the beautiful women’s photographs, seeing Karla’s skill for capturing their beauty with more than just a photograph, I knew automatically that I wanted Karla to do my Boudoir photos. I worked on myself mentally and psychically to prepare myself for the session for months after I booked the appointment. I had been interested in doing a session for years.

2. What were you nervous about going into your session?

I was nervous because I was afraid of what people would think about me actually doing a session like this. Once I got there and started getting ready, I put all my nervousness aside and told myself – This is for you and no one else because you have worked hard for this.

3. What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part was getting my makeup done and actually interacting with Karla while doing the session. Her reaction to some of my photos made me realize I shouldn’t be worried about what anyone thought, or be worried about anything.

4. How do you feel now that you've completed the session?

I am still in shock really about how good my photos turned out and how amazing I looked in all of them. My husband absolutely loved all of the photographs and was very proud of how amazing they all looked.

5. Would you recommend Karla Mason Boudoir to others?

YES!! Most definitely… she is amazing and so energetic!!

The Best of 2017

Hey party animals! I hope everyone is feeling rested and sober this morning after an amazing New Year's Eve, closing the chapter of 2017. This year has been a year of growth for me. It was my first full year in business here in Virginia after moving from Tennessee. I've been able to photograph so many gorgeous women this year and I hope to make 2018 even bigger! I was able to reach some goals that I set in the beginning of the year by attending online and in-person workshops, meet some pretty inspirational people in the boudoir industry, shot my first couples session, taught boudoir posing at a local workshop, added a new team member and made new friends that have pushed me harder to succeed in my business. I took time to reflect on ME this year and overall I think it's made me a better person. I've learned to let certain things and people go, even though it can be tough, I knew it was necessary. I'm a big believer is doing what makes YOU happy, no matter what anyone else thinks. Set your goals, keep them to yourself, work hard and prove to YOURSELF that anything is possible...because in the end YOU are your biggest cheerleader.

What has been stopping you? Have you been wanting a session with me but 2017 just wasn't your year? Well, lets make a change! Make it a point to put yourself first. Do more of what makes YOU happy! Today is a new day for change and growth to make 2018 the best year yet! I would love to be apart of that change. I have seen so many women transform into a more confident version of themselves just by taking that leap of faith and messaging me. Is this your year?

Here are just a few of the women from 2017 that allowed me to share their images. I'm so proud of each and every one of them. Will I see you in 2018?

Also, I have a made a list of  my top 10 images of 2017. Although EVERY session I did was my favorite, these 10 images stood out to me because they either sparked a new confidence in themselves or they also sparked something in me. I just love proving people wrong ;) In no particular order...

Stephanie Paige Makeup Artist

Have you been seeing this beautiful girl lately in my VIP Group and Instagram? Well, as we get busier and busier I've decided to add in another makeup artist to  make my team even better! Stephine found me on Instagram, we met up and she did a trial run on the beautiful Carrianne (see her other blog here with makeup by Glam by Jeet). She did such an amazing job that I decided to add her to the team! I'm so excited to have her help out and I know you guys will love her too! Here is a little more about StephinePaigeMUA:

Tell us a little about you! Where are you from? How long have you lived in Stafford, Virginia?

Hello everyone ! My name is Stephine Rogers. I am from Southern California, born and raised. I worked a lot in LA and Vegas doing makeup since I was 19! I went from working at Mac cosmetics to freelancing on my own doing makeup from night out, body paint/special Fx, wedding, celeb and makeup for a movie. I kept the hair to freelance. I moved to stafford VA because my husband work travels every 5-10 years.

I have been married to my husband for 4 years now but we are highschool sweethearts since i was 16! (I’m 25 almost 26 now

Together now we have 2 beautiful boys, ages 3 years and the other 8 months.

How long have you been doing makeup and hair?

I went to cosmetology when I was 16 actually, my highschool had a program where I was able to leave school & go to cosmo. Then I started making it a career when I was 19-20.

What attracted you to start your business?

This business is everything to me. It was the one field that really drove me & inspired me. To make someone feel beautiful is such an amazing thing. I remember the day I knew this would for sure going to be my life long career is when I did a ladies makeup and when I finished I pulled the mirror up for her to see the end result and she began to cry so much, then said “i have never felt so beautiful before thank you”

What do you feel is the most important facial feature to accentuate?

Lashes, the longer/fuller the better!

Flat Iron or Curling Wand?

Curling wand for the win!

What is the best tip for creating the best curl for fine hair?

I as well have fine hair, my biggest tip is to use a curling wand and grab chunks of hair, keep them together rather than spreading the hair flat, Pin the hair with a bobby pin, spray, set, then you will have long lasting bouncy curls

What is your favorite hair styling product?

Definitely a curling wand would be my favorite styling product.

Favorite Starbucks drink?

Girllll, my favorite Starbucks drink will be a surprise to maybe a lot of people loll I like Passion tea lemonade with half the sweetener. Yup, no caffeine and tarte as ever. Haha

What is your favorite candy/sweets?

My favorite candy/sweets would have to be the “So Delicious” ice cream, in any flavor. Haha your girl loves ice cream.

What is the one thing you're most looking forward to this year with Karla Mason Boudoir?

So many things. Friendship, her beautiful photos and making people feel beautiful through doing their makeup and hair.

I am a pretty open book but one thing many people that don’t already know me personally, don’t know about me would have to be I don’t eat meat or dairy and I also started buying only cruelty free makeup brands. I stopped when I was 23 & I am 25 now.
